In the latest Black Friday 2014 news, Best Buy Co Inc BBY has announced that it will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, or as it is increasingly known in the the world of retail, Black Thursday.
This news follows Target Corporation’s TGT announcement that it will be opening its doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, its earliest ever Black Thursday opening.
Unlike other retailers, however, Best Buy said that its stores will close at 1 a.m. on Friday morning to reopen again at 8 a.m.
The other major retailers opening on Thanksgiving, such as Target, Macy’s, Inc. M and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. WMT, will stay open all night once Black Thursday sales begin.
Different Days, Different Deals
When Best Buy opens on Thanksgiving, its major doorbusters will be a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone for $1 (with a two-year contract) and a Panasonic 50-inch LED TV for $199.
When stores reopen at 8 a.m. on Black Friday, there will be new doorbuster deals, including Microsoft’s Surface 2 tablet for $150 (regularly $230) and a 50-inch Vizio TV for $500 (regularly $700).
