Shares of Apollo Education Group, Inc. APOL rose Tuesday on unconfirmed market chatter of a potential bid from KKR & Co. L.P. KKR. The rumored offer is $34.00 per share. Spokespersons for Apollo and KKR did not respond to requests for comment. Apollo Education Group shares gained more than 5% Tuesday, closing at $28.51. Hearing Renewed Chatter of Potential Cisco Bid for Ciena The Rumor:
Ciena Corporation CIEN saw unusual call activity Tuesday, as renewed chatter surfaced of a potential bid from Cisco Systems, Inc. CSCO, according to a source familiar with the situation. Rumors of a pairing of the two networking companies goes back to the Internet boom of the late 1990s. Cisco declined comment on the rumor. A Ciena spokesperson was not available for comment. Ciena shares closed Tuesday at $20.41, a gain of almost 2%. Carlyle, CAP Gemini Held Talks to Acquire CSC The Rumor:
Shares of Computer Sciences Corp CSC moved lower Tuesday, on a Reuters report that The Carlyle Group LP CG and CAP GEMINI SA CGEMY held talks that began late in 2014, according to sources, but have since faded. It was unknown if the talks could be resurrected. Dealreporter said last week that CSC was in sale talks, according to sources. Jana's Barry Rosenstein reported a 5.9% stake in CSC on Monday. A CSC spokesperson was not available for comment. Computer Sciences Corp shares fell more than 1% Tuesday, closing at $70.84. Boston Scientific Near Deal to Acquire Endo's AMS Medical Device Unit The Rumor:
Shares of Boston Scientific Corp BSX and Endo International PLC ENDP rose Tuesday on a report from Reuters that BSX is in talks to acquire Endo's AMS medical device unit, according to sources. The deal could be finalized in a matter of weeks. A representative for Boston Scientific declined comment. An Endo representative could not be reached for comment. Boston Scientific shares rose almost 2% Tuesday, closing at $16.62, while Endo shares rose $0.31, closing at $85.25.
