McDonald's Corporation MCD declared its global comp sales for April earlier on Friday, which were much better than analysts' expectations. While the Street was expecting a decline of 1.8 percent, the company reported a decline of just 0.6 percent.
CNBC’s Jim Cramer recently discussed why McDonald's is currently the best stock to buy in the Dow.
Dow's Best Bet
"I have had literally, other than Easterbrook (McDonald’s CEO, Steve Easterbrook), pretty much every single restaurant CEO on [the show, 'Mad Money'] in the last month," Cramer said. “As Patrick Doyle said from Domino's, when people make more and have more jobs, they eat more pizza. Well, it also turns out they eat more burgers. So, you may decide that this is a turn by Easterbrook.
"I will say that people are having that additional soda, and that is what's determining this thing. They are ordering another dish in addition.
"McDonald's can turn. This has got to be the stock that people want to own in the Dow more than any other stock in the Dow. Everyone is trying to grab the thesis; it just turns out that they better be lucky [...] good thesis is going to play out."
Do What Howard Schultz Did
On what Easterbrook can do to improve the company, Cramer said, "I would have gone back and done much more like what Howard Schultz (CEO of Starbucks) did, which is like, you know, fix the bathrooms, make the place cleaner.
"You got to please the franchisees, and the way to do that is to say we are going to make our place a destination again for people who are on the road," Cramer concluded.
