CEO of Sliced Investing Talks Hedge Funds, Big-Name Stocks To Buy

Benzinga recently had the chance to pick the brain of Mike Furlong, co-founder and CEO of Sliced Investing. Mr. Furlong covered a wide range of topics including the latest hedge fund trends and his favorite stocks in today’s market.

Hedge fund inflows
Furlong told Benzinga that Sliced has seen a lot of money being routed into hedge funds lately and that this observation could tell investors some important things about the status of the current bull market. “The S&P 500 has been rallying for the last seven years, and investors are starting to wonder if the bull may be running out of gas,” Furlong explains. “We are still in a bullish market, but investors are getting increasingly cautions.”

He added that the lingering low interest rate environment coupled with new post-crisis banking regulations has forced investors to look outside of traditional investment classes, such as stocks and bonds.

Stock picks
When Benzinga asked Furlong what big-name stocks he likes at the moment, he mentioned two names that have been grabbing a lot of headlines lately: Tesla Motors Inc TSLA and Apple Inc AAPL.

“Tesla focuses on users first and growth second while making breakthrough innovations,” Furlong explained.

He also believes that, despite its massive size, Apple’s quality products, iconic brand and huge user base has the company well-positioned to continue its expansion. “Apple’s fiscal second quarter that ended March 28 with a net income of $13.6 billion was one of the most profitable quarters for any company in history,” Furlong added.

Sliced Investing
Furlong’s company, Sliced Investing, is a platform that gives accredited investors free, easy access to select hedge fund and private company investments, including investment opportunities such as Lyft’s recent Series E fundraising round.

Sliced already has thousands of clients and is planning on continuing to expand its offerings. “We look forward to opening some truly stellar hedge funds and more private investment rounds in promising companies in the future,” Furlong said.
