LAN Airlines October Traffic up 16%

LAN Airlines S.A. and its subsidiaries LFL today reported its preliminary monthly traffic statistics and punctuality indicators for October 2010. During October, system passenger traffic increased 16.0% as capacity rose 11.3%. As a result, the Company's load factor for the month increased 3.3 points to 83.5%. International passenger traffic accounted for approximately 70% of total passenger traffic. Domestic passenger traffic in Chile, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador rose 11.9% as capacity increased 9.8%. As a consequence, the domestic load factor for the month increased 1.6 points to 80.6%. International passenger traffic grew 17.7%, while capacity increased 12.0%. Accordingly, the international passenger load factor for the month increased 4.1 points to 84.8%. During October, international capacity expansion was mainly driven by an increase in operations on routes to Europe and to the United States, as well as certain regional routes.
