Shares of Rite Aid Corporation RAD were trading lower by 0.26 percent on Thursday after the company announced its December sales metrics.
Rite Aid said that for the four-week period ending December 26, same-store sales decreased 0.1 percent over the prior-year period. The company added that front-end same-store sales rose 0.8 percent, while pharmacy same-store sales (including a negative impact from new generic introductions) fell 0.4 percent over the same period a year ago.
Total drugstore sales for the four-week period were flat compared to a year ago at $2.212 billion, while prescription sales accounted for 64.6 percent of total drugstore sales.
Rite Aid also disclosed that same-store sales for the 43-week period ending December 26 rose 1.7 percent over the same period a year ago. During this time, front-end same-store sales rose 0.4 percent, while pharmacy same-store sales rose 2.3 percent.
Total drugstore sales for the 43-week period rose 1.6 percent from a year ago to $22.1118 billion.
