Afternoon Market Update (CHS, UAL, DAL, AMR)

Crude oil futures moved down, while gold futures rose, after separate reports depicted a decline in consumer prices and housing starts for the month of October. Crude oil for January delivery lost $0.01 at $82.76 per barrel. Gold for December delivery gained 0.1% to $1,340 an ounce. Shares of Chico's FAS Inc CHS surged about 7.8% after the company posted better-than-expected Q3 results. The company's Q3 net income came in at $0.16 per share, up from $0.13 per share, in the year-ago period. The company reported its revenue at $483 million, up from $446.9 million, in the year-ago quarter. However, analysts were expecting earnings at $0.15 per share on revenue of $476.5 million. Airline stocks rose today, with the NYSE Arca Airline Index (XAL) gaining about 0.63%. Shares of United Continental Holdings UAL and Delta Air Lines DAL fell slightly.
