The following are the M&A deals, rumors and chatter circulating on Wall Street for Friday February 5 through Sunday February 7, 2016: IDEX to Acquire Akron Brass for $224.2M in Cash The Deal:
-IDEX CORPORATION IEX announced Friday, that it has entered agreed to acquire Akron Brass Holding Corp., manufacturer of life-safety products for the safety and emergency response markets, for $224.2 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in 60 days. IDEX closed at $72.76 on Friday, down $0.33. Mattel May Make Offer for Mayborn Group The Rumor:
Mattel MAT is said to have requested financial information regarding the UK's Mayborn Group, according to sources as reported by Sky News on Friday. Private equity firm 3i Group has put Mayborn Group up for sale, with bids due next week. Bloomberg reported earlier last week that Mattel held merger talks with rival toymaker Hasbro HAS. Mattel closed at $31.81 on Friday, down 1.5%. LeapFrog to be Acquired by VTech Holdings for $1.00/Share in Cash The Deal:
VTech Holdings Limited VTKLY and LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc LF announced Friday, that the two companies have entered into a merger agreement whereby VTech will acquire LeapFrog via a tender offer for $1.00 per share in cash. The tender offer is expected to commence on or about March 3, 2016. LeapFrog closed at $0.97 on Friday, up 72%. Brookfield CEO Denies Interest in General Growth Properties Acquisition The CEO Comments:
Brookfield Property Partners BPY CEO Brian Kingston said Friday there was no substance to the rumor reported by Reuters, that Brookfield would acquire the rest of General Growth Properties they did not already own and take the REIT private, as reported by TheRealDeal. Kingston said Brookfield was happy with its GGP investment in its current form. Reuters reported on January 28, that the two companies were in preliminary discussions regarding a potential deal. General Growth Properties closed at $27.03 on Friday, down 3.84%.
