Mary Meeker: End Of An Era

Morgan Stanley MS lost a great one this morning, when the Wall Street Journal reported that tech analyst Mary Meeker was going to Kleiner Perkins. Meeker has been influential since the dot com era, and comes out with a report of the tech industry which many consider to be extremely important. This year's annual report, courtesy of Business Insider, showed that the biggest issues in tech are globality, mobile, social ecosystems and advertising. She went on to note that 46% of internet users are in five countries: (U.S., China, Brazil, Russia, India). She also discussed the Apple AAPL ecosystem, which includes the iPod, iPhone, and iPad, as well as the popularity of CEO Steve Jobs. Meeker became "Queen of the Net" after being called that by Barron's. She is famous for her calls on such companies as Dell DELL, Microsoft MSFT, Intuit INTU, Netscape, AOL AOL, Amazon.com AMZN, Yahoo! YHOO, eBay EBAY and Google GOOG.
