Verizon Seeing Lull In Anticipation Of iPhone

An article by Scott Moritz at the TheStreet.com TSCM shows that Verizon VZ customers are holding off on upgrading their phones in anticipation of an Apple Inc. AAPL iPhone early next year. (Note: I myself am doing this as well). Moritz notes that industry analysts have said that Verizon retail stores have been quieter than usual, as consumers are waiting on the iconic device. There has also been a lack of a "must have" phone this holiday season, so this could also be a factor for the decline in traffic since Black Friday. Upgrades at Verizon have been steadily declining in anticipation of the iPhone," said mobile industry strategist Michael Cote, of the Cote Collaborative. Shares of VZ are up 27 cents to $33.16 in early Tuesday trading, and AAPL is up $1.30 to $321.45.
