Disney Renews And Expands Deal With Netflix, Goldman Sachs Reports

In a renewed and expanded deal with Netflix, Inc. NFLX, Walt Disney Company DIS will make several TV series from ABC, the Disney Channel and ABC Family available for online streaming, Goldman Sachs reports. “The deal is non-exclusive for one year with a $100 to $150 mn license fee. Most of the episodes are from past seasons, but some are current season from series on the Disney Channel and ABC Family (not ABC) and will be made available for streaming 15 days after the original TV airing,” Goldman Sachs writes. “The ABC content is either cancelled series (Ugly Betty, Scrub, Lost) or serialized dramas that are still on the air but have already been sold into syndication (Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters).” Walt Disney Company DIS closed Thursday at $36.74; Netflix, Inc. NFLX closed at $191.05.
