Altra Holdings Up Sharply On Heavy Volume (AIMC)

Altra Holdings, Inc. AIMC is up sharply today, gaining more than 4% on nearly twice its average daily volume. Altra was recently cited by a few analysts as a potential takeover target, by Siemens SI or Brazilian electrical equipment company WEG. "Altra is trading at a discount to its peers and should look for healthy growth in 2011 and 2012 as industrial markets start to move up," said MKM Partners analyst Joshua Pokrzywinski. "Siemens is a limited player in North America; WEG is a very limited player. They would want to build their presence," he added. At last check, shares of AIMC were up 88 cents to $20.27, a gain of 4.5%. Altra Holdings, Inc. designs, produces, and markets a range of mechanical power transmission and motion control products primarily in North America, Europe, and Asia.
