PriceSmart Announces July Sales

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - August 7, 2009) - PriceSmart, Inc. PSMT today announced that for the month of July 2009 net sales increased 4.8% to $99.8 million from $95.2 million in July a year earlier. For the eleven months ended July 31, 2009, net sales increased 12.4% to $1,121.8 million from $998.5 million for the eleven months ended July 31, 2008. There were 26 warehouse clubs in operation at the end of July 2009 compared to 25 warehouse clubs at the end of July 2008.

For the four weeks ended July 26, 2009, comparable warehouse sales for the warehouse clubs open at least 12 full months increased 1.2% compared to the same four-week period last year. For the forty-seven week period ended July 26, 2009, comparable warehouse sales increased 9.6% compared to the comparable forty-seven week period a year ago.
