Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is in favor of a British exit (Brexit) from the Eurozone. In a new interview with Fox News, Trump said British voters should make up their own minds ahead of the June 23 referendum vote, but he would be in favor of a Brexit.

“I would say they’re better off without it personally, but I’m not making that as a recommendation – just my feeling,” Trump said.

“I think the migration has been a horrible thing for Europe. A lot of that was pushed by the EU,” he added. He did not go into detail about particular EU policies.

Trump’s presumptive Democratic opponent in the general election, Hillary Clinton, is in favor of Britain staying in the EU.

Ironically, Trump isn’t particularly popular in the UK, and his Brexit endorsement is already being used by the British “Remain” campaign as an encouragement for voters to choose to stay in the EU.

The Brexit movement has gained some momentum in recent months, and polls now show that the referendum vote could be uncomfortably close.

An ICM poll earlier this month showed that 46 percent of voters are now in favor of a Brexit, while only 43 percent are opposed.
