Under Armour Inc UA's star athlete endorser Steph Curry made history once again by becoming the first unanimous NBA MVP. Under Armour has been on quite a roll of late with Curry’s second consecutive MVP award and Bryce Harper reigning as the MLB’s NL MVP.

However, Citi analyst Kate McShane says that when it comes to investment, Nike Inc NKE remains the gold standard. McShane recently compared the stocks of Nike, Under Armour and adidas AG (ADR) ADDYY to determine where athletic apparel investors should be putting their money.

“Although all three brands will likely benefit from solid global category growth over the next several years, Nike still comes out on top versus adidas and UA, given its consistently strong sales growth and global market share leadership, potential for gross margin expansion oppty driven by pricing power and innovation in the supply chain, ability to leverage costs, continued shareholder returns, and attractive relative valuation (NKE is now the least expensive of the thee stocks on a forward P/E basis),” McShane explains.

After declaring Nike the clear winner among the three names, McShane concluded that the 13.6 percent pullback in Nike over the past six months offers traders an excellent buying opportunity.
