Usually during upfront week, one series catches fire and that series usually involves a big name, a big concept or combination of the two. Yet ensemble drama "This Is Us" isn't really checking either box, but 25 million viewers later the buzz is still building.
The NBC series fronted by Mandy Moore looks at the interconnected lives of strangers that share the same birthday. The drama started gaining attention when its trailer hit 15 million views on Facebook in about 48 hours.
As of Thursday afternoon, that number skyrocketed even higher. The number increases when you count the 2+ million YouTube views and the undisclosed amount of hits from NBC's own player.
To put that into perspective, last year's biggest hit was The CW's super-hero series "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" which was viewed 4.1 million times, close to the number pulled in by fellow 2016 NBC rookie "Timeless."
Among new series-to-be, Fox's "Prison Break" reboot is currently in second place with 22 million views.
