LinkedIn Users Are Scared Of A Possible Brexit

The much anticipated and heavily followed "Brexit" vote will occur Thursday. The impact of Britain separating itself from the European Union continues to be debated among investors and market experts, but one segment of the population is particularly nervous — job seekers.

It is not clear what impact job seekers can expect if Britain separates from the European Union, but LinkedIn Corp LNKD's executive director Dan Roth has some insight as to how job seekers are feeling.

Speaking as a guest on CNBC Tuesday morning, Roth said that many LinkedIn users are scared of a possible Brexit outcome that could kill millions of jobs.

Roth cited Sir Martin Sorrell, founder and CEO of the multinational advertising and public relations firm WPP, who wrote an opinion piece on LinkedIn that an exit from the European Union "would have a negative or strongly negative impact on future investments or business prospects in the UK."

"The major sentiment seems to be from the CEOs who are writing on LinkedIn, and also employees, is that they are worried about what this means for employment," Roth continued. "They are worried about what this means for sales, for any kind of revenue targets they have set."

Roth concluded that there is "no question there is fear," but no scientific survey has been done to get a more accurate reading of the overall sentiment.
