Worst Performing Industries For June 21, 2016


The Dow rose 0.12 percent to 17,827.03, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.11 percent to 4,842.60. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.15 percent to 2,086.29.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Home Furnishing Stores: This industry slipped 1.5 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. BBBY, which fell 1.8 percent. Bed Bath & Beyond is expected to post quarterly earnings on June 22, 2016.
  • Movie Production, Theaters: This industry declined 1.3 percent by 11:00 am with Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (USA) LGF moving down 2.5 percent. On Monday, Lionsgate announced a quarterly cash dividend of $0.09 per share.
  • Trucking: This industry fell 1.2 percent by 11:00 am ET. Werner Enterprises, Inc. WERN shares dropped 8 percent in today's trading. Werner issued a weak earnings forecast for the second quarter.
  • Biotechnology: The industry dropped 1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Tetralogic Pharmaceuticals Corp TLOG, which declined 17 percent.
