Despite the Golden State Warriors loss in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Under Armour Inc UA still garnered incredible momentum the year, and Curry's popularity isn't slowing down anytime soon.
Under Armour got a lot of criticism for the design for the "Chef" Curry 2 Lows, but the shoes are selling very well. The harsh reviews of the shoe on social media and in the news boosted awareness of the shoe release.
In a recent note by Canaccord Genuity, "In our channel checks and discussions with industry contacts, the Chef [Curry] shoe has actually sold better than some of its predecessor color [styles], likely due to all the attention paid to it."
Under Armour has invested heavily in its basketball business, meaning it's likely there will be improvement in the quality and sales of each future releases. The Warriors will still be a team to beat next year, as Curry's resiliency will be on display as he aims to take the throne back from LeBron James.
There continues to be a lot of excitement around each signature Curry shoe release in the near future. Under Armour is set to release a back-to-back pack on June 24 highlighting Curry's two-time MVP run and they've already sold out.
With Nike Inc NKE securing the likely top pick in the NBA Draft this week after signing Ben Simmons, it remains to be seen whether Under Armour makes a move endorsing one of the up-and-coming players in the incoming draft class.
