For the Love of Family, Author Sacrificed a Huge Portion of Her Life

Actor David Ogden Stiers once said, "Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten." And that's exactly what came to Rosalie Contino's mind when her brother, Bob, got diagnosed with schizophrenia. Although she had to give up a huge portion of her life to attend to Bob, she was able to get a lot of good things from the experience. She tells their journey together in As Life Goes On: Lessons One Doesn't Want to Have to Learn.

Taking care of a sick family member is never easy, but Rosalie showed patience, courage, and love. When her brother passed away, she wrote about their story to keep his memory alive.

The book was first published in 2013 and had been republished by LitFire Publishing in September 2015. Rosalie Contino's works, including this book, have been featured in several book fairs worldwide.

About the Author

Rosalie H. Contino, PhD, is an Italian American born in Brooklyn, New York. She acquired a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Fordham University and then got her master's and doctor's degrees in educational theater and costume design from New York University. She was a teacher for many years. When she retired, she pursued her passion in the arts. Rosalie is now a writer, costume designer, playwright, and lecturer. She has published several poems, articles, and books.
