Campus Martius Park Becomes Detroit Hangout

If you're looking for an afternoon dose of sunshine and good music, Campus Martius Park is the perfect destination. Detroit residents, Quicken Loans employees, Bedrock employees and many other employees around the Campus Martius and Downtown Detroit area gather in Campus Martius to enjoy the warm breeze and summer fun.

For Quicken Loans employees Bethany Ockwell and Ashley Herrington, the two like to come to the park every day to eat lunch.

"I love the atmosphere, and it's refreshing in the middle of the day and I like that more people are coming down here now," Ockwell commented.

Both girls said they like the positive environment.

For Jennifer Bielecki, a paralegal in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Detroit, Campus Martius is the perfect breath of fresh air. Bielecki said she has seen a huge improvement in Campus Martius. She said there are so many food vendors, and she loves the music played every day at noon.

"Campus Martius brings people together outdoors who wouldn't go out of their office for lunch," Bielecki said, "It creates a diverse atmosphere."

Bielecki likes to get out of her office for lunch, get some sun, listen to good music and see what's happening in Campus Martius.

For Jason Achenbach and Daniel Valentini, two Quicken Loans summer interns from Ohio and Philadelphia, their first summer experience in Detroit has been amazing.

"Campus Martius is a really nice place to take a break from the office and enjoy fresh air and music," Valentini said, "There's music, a lot of people around, and it's a very cool atmosphere."

On Thursday evenings, Achenbach said the beach bar in Campus Martius is bustling. The boys said they have experienced some Detroit summer fun in some bars in the business district and especially enjoyed this week's fireworks.

From live music to food vendors, Campus Martius Park brings together people in a new, positive way. The park is a place for people to enjoy a nice break in their day, grab some good food and relax in the summer sun. Campus Martius is an exciting hangout for Detroit employees, and it is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the Detroit summer.
