Global Payments Extend Support For Apple Pay In Hong Kong

Global Payments Inc. GPN disclosed it would offer merchants in Hong Kong the capability to accept credit, as well as debit card payments through Apple Inc. AAPL's Apple Pay. According to the company, the tech firm's app is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay quickly and conveniently.

Global Payments said its strong suite of payments solutions was fully enabled in Hong Kong. That enabled it to provide in-store and iOS app merchants to offer their customers the convenience of paying with the help of Apple Pay.

The company's SVP, Global Product and Innovation, Frank Young, commented, "Global Payments continues to focus on implementing and delivering innovative and secure payment technology solutions to all of our customers around the world. Making Apple Pay available demonstrates this commitment and we're excited to offer our merchants in Hong Kong the ability to accept the easy, secure and private way to pay."

Global Payments indicated the core of Apple Pay was the security and privacy especially when customers uses a credit, as well as, debit card with the app since the actual card numbers were not stored on the device. The company provided a unique Device Account Number instead. As a result, every transaction has been authorized with the help of a one-time security code.

On Wednesday, the stock traded 0.79 percent higher.
