Fred's January Comparable Store Sales up 2.1%

Fred's Inc. FRED today reported sales for the four-week fiscal month, quarter and year ended January 29, 2011. Fred's total sales for the month increased 3% to $129.1 million from $125.0 million in January 2010. Comparable store sales for the month rose 2.1% compared with a decline of 2.0% in the same period last year. Total sales for the 13-week fourth quarter of 2010 increased 3% to $485.6 million versus $472.9 million in the year-earlier quarter. Comparable store sales for the fourth quarter increased 2.3% compared with a decline of 0.9% in the fourth quarter last year.
