Shares of Southwest Airlines Co LUV gained about 1.8% after the company reported 13.2% y/y rise in its total January traffic. LUV's total January capacity increased 7.5% y/y to 8.19 billion available seat miles. The company's load factor in January increased to 76% from 72.1% last year.
Shares of Beckman Coulter Inc BEC surged about 9.7% after Danaher Corp DHR agreed to buy BEC for $6.8 billion, or $83.50 per share, representing around 11% premium over BEC's closing price on February. The deal is likely to be completed by July.
Shares of Hasbro Inc HAS gained about 0.3% after the company reported its Q4 net income at $140 million, or $0.99 per share. The company's revenue dropped to $1.28 billion, from $1.38 billion, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.96 per share. HAS' Chief Financial Officer Deborah Thomas said, "We expect to begin seeing the return from many of our recent investments, supporting our belief that we should be able to grow revenues and earnings per share in 2011."
