Worst Performing Industries For November 3, 2016


The Dow rose 0.20 percent to 17,995.06, while the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.02 percent to 5,104.35. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.16 percent to 2,101.31.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry slipped 4.4 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was GoPro Inc GPRO, which fell 5 percent. GoPro is expected to report quarterly earnings after the closing bell.
  • Internet Service Providers: This industry declined 1.6 percent by 11:00 am with Spark Networks Inc LOV moving down 11.4 percent. Spark Networks is expected to report Q3 results on November 10, 2016.
  • Cleaning Products: This industry fell 1.5 percent by 11:00 am ET. Church & Dwight Co., Inc. CHD shares dropped 5.7 percent in today's trading. Church & Dwight posted in-line quarterly earnings, but sales missed expectations. The company also issued a weak earnings forecast for the current quarter.
  • Semiconductor - Specialized: The industry dropped 1.1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was First Solar, Inc. FSLR, which declined 16 percent. First Solar posted weak quarterly revenue and lowered its sales guidance.
