Regardless of who wins the race to the White House, several states are holding their own campaigns, which could see the use of cannabis legalized or pre-existing limitations expanded.
Here is a summary of states where marijuana issues will be on the ballot, according to Yahoo News.
Arizona
The state of Arizona will vote on Proposition 205, which would allow individuals over the age of 21 to possess up to one ounce of marijuana, consume marijuana in private and grow up to six marijuana plants at their home.
California
Proposition 64 will ask voters in California if they believe adults over the age of 21 should be able to possess and consume one ounce of marijuana and eight grams of marijuana concentrates and grow up to six marijuana plants at home.
The proposition would also lead to a 15 percent excise tax on all cannabis sales.
Maine
Voters in Maine will vote on Question 1, which if passed, will result in marijuana being regulated similar to alcohol.
Approval of Question 1 will see the state create a regulatory system of marijuana retail stores and facilities and collect a 10 percent sales tax on all marijuana items.
Massachusetts
Question 4 on the ballet will also result in the state regulating marijuana like alcohol. If passed, the state will establish an entity that is similar to the Alcohol Beverage Control Commission and oversee retail stores and cultivation facilities.
Nevada
Question 2 on Nevada's state ballet will join Maine and Massachusetts in giving the state authority to regulate marijuana like alcohol and establish a 15 percent excise tax on all marijuana related sales.
