Mark Grant, a strategist at Hilltop Securities, was a guest on CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Wednesday to offer his take on the presidential election.

Now that the election is finally over with, the top question on investors mind is: Now what?

'America's Brexit'

According to Grant, the presidential election is America's version of Brexit, in which global equities heavily sold off following the Brexit vote in late June only to recover losses and then move higher.

"I've heard from a number of large institutions from this morning already and they are selling aggressively," he continued. = "I think this is going to be a big opportunity as soon as things stabilize."

Construction, Infrastructure And Energy Commodities

Grant recommended investors take a closer look at the construction industry, U.S-based oil and natural gas companies and businesses connected to infrastructure.

Investors should ignore the "fluff" surrounding Trump's campaign and focus on his policies, which clearly point toward increased infrastructure spending.

What About The Federal Reserve?

Grant further suggested that Janet Yellen may not serve as head of the Federal Reserve for an extended period of time.

Nevertheless, the central bank will be "out of their minds" not to raise interest rates as expected. This should also create some stability in the bond market.
