The classic console is proving to be one of the hottest gifts out there this holiday season. Launched last Friday, the re-purposed console has sold out nearly everywhere, with gaming enthusiasts rushing to relive their childhood with one of the most classic gaming systems of all time.

Nintendo clearly has a hit with the Mini NES; it has sold out so fast that after-market sales on eBay Inc EBAY are reaching into the $1,000+ range — all for a console that retailed for just $60. With Nintendo promising more units are on the way before the holidays, it’s a promising sign for investors and grants a sigh of relief to customers ahead of the holiday shopping season's peak.

The excitement surrounding the launch has understandably brought out the speculation that Nintendo could also re-launch its beloved Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 consoles in the future.
