JD.com's CEO: 'Trump Won't Be A Big Issue'

JD.Com Inc(ADR) JD is China's second largest online retailer so investors have reason to be concerned how the company would be impacted under any potential trade war or rhetoric initiated by President-elect Donald Trump.

In a rare interview with American media, JD.com's CEO Richard Liu sat down with CNBC's Deirde Bosa to talk about the company's outlook under a Trump presidency.

JD.com's Business Model

Bosa noted that JD.com's business model relies on billions of dollars' worth of imports from American companies, ranging from cosmetics to luxury items. Nevertheless, Liu isn't worried about his business and said that Trump won't be a "big issue."

"We mainly focus on bringing American goods into China and I believe through cooperation both sides can benefit," he said.

Liu will be visiting New York City in a few days and the billionaire founder was asked if he will be visiting with Trump much like SoftBank's CEO Masayoshi Son did which resulted in a $50 billion pledge to create jobs in the United States.

Liu said that he has no plans to meet with Trump during his upcoming visit, and the purpose of the visit is to meet with various American brands and deepen the cooperation with JD.com's business.
