Shares of Navistar International Corp NAV gained about 0.6% after the company swung to a FQ1 loss from a profit in the year-ago period. Navistar posted a FQ1 loss of $6 million, or $0.08 per share, versus a net income of $19 million, or $0.26 per share, in the year-ago quarter. The company's adjusted earnings came in at $0.16 per share. NAV's net revenue dropped to $2.74 billion from $2.81 billion. However, analysts had been expecting earnings of $0.24 per share on revenue of $2.89 billion.
Shares of Children's Place Retail Stores Inc PLCE gained about 6% after the company reported its FQ4 profit at $32.1 million, or $1.22 per share, versus $34.1 million, or $1.23 per share, in the year-earlier period. PLCE's sales dropped 2.1% y/y to $453.2 million. PLCE's comparable sales fell 5.9%. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.02 per share on sales of $465.9 million. PLCE projects Q1 profit of $1 to $1.05 per share and full-year earnings of $3.05 to $3.25 per share. The company also announced its plans to buyback around $100 million shares.
Shares of American Eagle Outfitters Inc AEO rose about 2.7% after the company reported its FQ4 profit at $87 million, or $0.44 per share, compared with $59.3 million, or $0.28 per share, in the year-earlier period. AEO's sales dropped to $916.1 million from $955.8 million. The company projects Q1 profit of $0.13 to $0.17 per share. For the current year, AEO projects profit of $1.02 per share. However, analysts projected Q4 profit of $0.43 per share, Q1 profit of $0.16 per share and full-year profit of $1.09 per share.
