Microsoft MSFT and Apple AAPL are taking two different approaches to donating money towards the Japanese earthquake.
Microsoft originally put out a tweet that if users retweeted that specific tweet, Microsoft would donate up to $100,000 towards Japan. It was seen as a shady marketing attempt, and wound up just donating the $100,000 anyway.
Apple has taken another approach, and instead of the company donating money, it set up a place in iTunes for you to donate towards Japan. 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit Japan. The suggested donations are in amounts of $5, $10, $25, $50, $100 and $200.
Which do you prefer? Should the company donate its money and resources?
