Shares of Williams-Sonoma Inc WSM gained about 0.5% after the company reported its FQ4 earnings at $113.4 million, or $1.05 per share, compared with $88.4 million, or $0.81 per share, in the year-earlier period. WSM's revenue increased about 10% to $1.2 billion. On an adjusted basis, the company's earnings came in at $1.08 per share. However, analysts had been expecting earnings of $0.98 per share. WSM also lifted its quarterly dividend by 13% to $0.17 per share.
Shares of Elbit Systems Ltd ESLT rose about 1.9% after the company reported a 19% fall in its Q4 net income on 12% higher revenue. The company's profit dropped to $43.7 million, or $1.01 per share, from $53.7 million, or $1.24, in the year-ago period. ESLT's revenue increased to $798.7 million from $714.7 million. The company's gross-profit margin narrowed to 29% of revenue versus 29.7% in the year-ago period.
Shares of Brown Shoe Co BWS dropped about 20% after the company reported its Q4 profit at $3.35 million, or $0.08 per share, compared with $5.05 million, or $0.12 per share, in the year-earlier period. BWS' sales increased 6.8% to $604.5 million. Excluding one-time items, the company's profit came in at $0.11 per share. However, analysts were expecting profit of $0.16 per share. The company projects 2011 profit of $1.25 to $1.32 per share.
