Sanofi-Aventis SA SNY and Merck & Co Inc MRK today announced plans to abandon a joint animal health venture with $5 billion in annual sales, citing the complexity of selling assets to placate regulators. No wonder why Merck has been one of the "dogs" of the Dow. Apple Inc. sued Amazon.com Inc. AMZN over the use of the phrase "App Store," accusing Amazon of trademark infringement. Maybe Amazon should've used "Virtual App Store," since Amazon has no actual stores.
