Trading Oracle's Earnings Today (ORCL, VMW, CTXS, EMC)

Oracle ORCL is set to report earnings tonight after the bell, and all eyes will be on what Larry Ellison's company has to say about the state of the tech sector. Wall Street will be looking for earnings of 50 cents per share on revenues of $8.67 billion. This is up from the 38 cents per share on revenues of $6.47 billion. If Oracle is able to show that the tech sector is alive and well, then names like VMware VMW, Citrix Systems CTXS, EMC EMC should trend higher in sympathy. Analysts and investors will specifically be focused on how Oracle's cloud computing strategy is going. IBM IBM recently said that it was expanding its strategy in cloud computing, which many are calling the biggest trend in technology in the past twenty years. At last check, shares of Oracle were up 42 cents to $31.3, a gain of 1.3% on the session. Oracle Corporation, an enterprise software company, develops, manufactures, markets, distributes, and services database and middleware software, applications software, and hardware systems worldwide.
