Bernanke: 60 Votes Needed For Another Term, (AIG)
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke needs 60 more votes to be elected for a second term.
According to a Dow Jones Newswires survey, 31 senators were publicly committed to voting for Mr. Bernanke, and 17 opposed. Senate Democratic staff members said that the Senate is expected to vote before the expiry of Mr. Bernanke’s term on January 31. According to the Wall Street Journal, Bernanke’s election for the second term is likely to be affected negatively by the controversial handling of the American International Group Inc. (NYSE: AIG) rescue in September 2008.
