Costco Jumps On Same-Store Sales Numbers (COST)

Costco COST shares are surging on Thursday after the company reported better than expected same store sales for March. The stock is currently 4.54% higher at $78.39, which is a new 52-week high for the name. Volume has been on the heavy side. Costco (COST) has been bandied about as a possible acquisition target for a couple of years, and much of the speculation revolves around Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway BRK, which is a large shareholder. In the last 52-weeks, however, COST shares have risen 27% and the company now has a market cap of over $34 billion, which would make any acquisition a massive proposition, and therefore, unlikely.
