Best 1) Global Crossing GLBC: Vaulting 74.19% to $25.78 after Level 3 Communications LVLT announced that it will acquire the company in an all-stock purchase (16 shares of Level 3 common stock for each share of Global Crossing common or preferred). 2) American Medical Systems AMMD: Surging 32.88% to $29.56 after agreeing to be acquired by Endo Pharmaceuticals ENDP for $30 a share. The deal is worth 2.9 billion. 3) RAM Energy Resources RAME: Gaining 6.6% to $2.25 after revealing an activity update in its Mississippian oil explorations in Osage County, Oklahoma. 4) VIVUS VVUS: Up 6.04% to $6.85 after a positive study was published regarding its weight loss drug QNEXA. 5) Biogen Idec BIIB: Shares are getting a nice 5.74% pop to $77.50. Positive top-line results from its multiple sclerosis drug, which showed a reduction in relapse occurrences are the reason for the gain. Worst 1) QuickLogic QUIK: Dropping over 12.5% to $4.26 after cutting its first-quarter revenue forecast. 2) Medivation MDVN: Shares are down 4% to $19.30 after announcing that the company will be stopping development of their experimental drug due to poor test results in patients with Huntington disease. 3) Jack In The Box JACK: Stock of the hamburger chain is down 3.47% to $21.40 after being downgraded by Credit Suisse from Neutral to Underperform. 4) Education Management EDMC: Taking a 2.28% haircut to $21.46 after being cut from Neutral to Sell by Goldman Sachs GS. 5) Sina SINA: Shares of the Chinese online media company are currently losing 3.6% to $114.99.
