Pre-Roll Powerhouse: Headset Reveals 13.4% Surge in U.S. Cannabis Joints

Pre-rolled joints have emerged as a rising star in the cannabis market, sparking a significant shift in consumer preferences. Analysis firm Headset's latest report dives into the evolving landscape of pre-rolls, shedding light on the factors driving their popularity and what lies ahead.

Explosive Growth

Pre-rolls have rapidly risen to become the third most popular cannabis product in the U.S. and the second in Canada. With their broad appeal and the emergence of 'Connoisseur / Infused' products, this category continues to offer ample growth opportunities, even after a sustained period of strong expansion.

Pre-roll sales in the U.S. surged by 13.4%, outperforming other cannabis product categories. In Canada, they catapulted to the second most popular category, growing by an astonishing 36.5%.

Brand Expansion

Canada witnessed a 335% increase in pre-roll brands, soaring from 95 to 413 brands, a key contributor to the category's success. In the U.S., while brand growth was less dramatic, pre-rolls are still outperforming the market in terms of total sales growth.

Top Segments and Demographics

'Hybrid - Single Strain' and 'Connoisseur / Infused' segments dominate pre-roll sales, accounting for over 80% in the U.S. and 67.4% in Canada. These segments are attracting a diverse customer base, with a slight preference among women in both countries.
