Home Depot Inc HD reported a 12% rise in its fiscal first-quarter net income and raised its earnings forecast for the fiscal year. The retailer reported its quarterly earnings at $812 million, or $0.50 per share, up from $725 million, or $0.43 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its shares outstanding dropped 4.6% to 1.61 billion. The retailer's revenue dropped to $16.82 billion, from $16.86 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.49 per share on revenue of $17.06 billion. Home Depot's comparable-store sales fell 0.6%. The retailer also lifted its forecast of fiscal-year earnings to $2.24 per share, from its previous forecast of $2.20 per share. However, analysts expected earnings of $2.30 per share. The TJX Companies TJX reported its Q1 profit at $266 million, or $0.67 per share, down from $331.4 million, or $0.80 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its adjusted profit dropped to $0.78 per share from $0.80 per share. The company's revenue surged to $5.22 billion, from $5.02 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.80 per share on revenue of $5.2 billion. TJX projects its Q2 net income of $0.81 to $0.86 per share, based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. However, analysts expected earnings of $0.85 per share. The company projects 2012 adjusted earnings of $3.81 to $3.93 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $3.89 per share. Wal-Mart Stores Inc WMT reported its Q1 profit at $3.4 billion, or $0.97 per share, up from $3.3 billion, or $0.87 per share, in the year-ago period. Its sales increased 4.4% to $103.4 billion, while membership and other income surged 8.4% to $774 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.94 per share on sales of $102.8 billion. The retailer projects its Q2 earnings of $1.05 to $1.10 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $1.08 per share. Hewlett-Packard Co HPQ reported its Q2 profit at $2.3 billion, or $1.05 per share, up from $2.2 billion, or $0.91 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its adjusted earnings surged to $1.24 per share from $1.09 per share. The company's revenue rose around 3% to $31.63 billion, from $30.85 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.21 per share on revenue of $31.6 billion. The company lowered its projections for the third quarter and full fiscal year. It projects Q3 net income of around $0.90 per share and adjusted profit of around $1.08 per share, on revenue of $31.1 billion to $31.3 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.23 per share on revenue of $31.9 billion. H-P now projects 2011 net earnings of at least $4.27 per share and adjusted earnings of at least $5 per share, on revenue of $129 billion to $130 billion. However, analyst expected adjusted earnings of $5.24 per share on revenue of $130.5 billion. Saks Inc SKS reported its Q1 profit at $28.4 million, or $0.16 per share, up from $18.8 million, or $0.11 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its sales surged to $726 million from $667.4 million. Its same-store sales advanced 10.2%. Excluding charges of $0.01 per share, Saks earnings came in at $0.17 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.16 per share on sales of $713.7 million. Trina Solar Limited TSL reported its Q1 EPS of $0.93, versus the estimates of $1.05. TSL reported its revenue of $550.9 million, versus the estimates of $584.6 million. Dick's Sporting Goods Inc DKS reported its Q1 earnings at $37.5 million, or $0.30 per share, compared with $26.2 million, or $0.22 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its revenue surged 6% to $1.1 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.29 per share on revenue of $1.1 billion. Dick's raised its 2011 profit projections to $1.91 to $1.93 per share, from $1.89 to $1.91 per share. However, analysts expected 2011 earnings of $1.94 per share. China Digital TV Holding Co Ltd STV reported its Q1 EPS of $0.13, versus the estimates of $0.15. STV reported its revenue of $19.3 million, versus the estimates of $19.80 million. Vodafone Group PLC VOD reported a 3.2% rise in its revenue for the fiscal year ended March 31 and issued upbeat projections for 2012. The company reported its fiscal year revenue at 45.9 billion pounds ($74.45 billion), versus analysts' estimates of 45.5 billion pounds. Its core earnings dropped 0.4% to 14.7 billion pounds, versus analysts' estimates of 14.69 billion pounds. The company's free cash flow came in at the top of the range at 7.05 billion pounds, versus estimates of 6.7 billion pounds. The company's Q4 service revenue was ahead of estimates, up 2.5% on an organic basis. European organic service revenue dropped 0.4% during the year, versus a decline of 3.8% last year. Vodafone projects fiscal 2012 adjusted operating profit of 11 billion pounds to 11.8 billion pounds. Sino Clean Energy Inc SCEI reported its Q1 EPS of $0.30, versus $0.45, in the year-ago period. SINO reported its revenue of $33.8 million, up from $24.5 million, in the year-ago period. Tower Semiconductor Ltd TSEM narrowed its Q1 net loss on Tuesday. Tower reported a Q1 loss at $5.4 million, or $0.02 per share, versus a loss of $36.2 million, or $0.18 per share, in the year-ago quarter. The company's adjusted earnings increased 19% to $31.5 million. Its revenue surged to $120.6 million from $113.8 million. O'Charley's Inc CHUX swung to a first-quarter profit, from a loss in the year-ago period. O'Charley's reported its quarterly earnings at $1.9 million, or $0.09 per share, versus a loss of $1.6 million, or $0.08 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue dropped to $265 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.05 per share on revenue of $261.38 million. The company projects Q2 total revenue of $190 to $195 million, versus analysts' estimates of $188.2 million. Ituran Location and Control Ltd ITRN reported its Q1 EPS of $0.31, versus the estimates of $0.29. ITRN reported its revenue of $40.4 million, versus the estimates of $41.47 million.
