Stocks To Watch For August 19

Some of the stocks that may grab investor focus today are: Hewlett-Packard Co HPQ reported a rise in its Q3 net income, but issued downbeat outlook for the current quarter and lowered its forecast for the year. The company reported its quarterly earnings at $1.93 billion, or $0.93 per share, up from $1.77 billion, or $0.75 per share, in the year-ago period. Its adjusted earnings came in at $1.10 per share. HP's revenue climbed to $31.2 billion from $30.7 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.09 per share on revenue of $31.19 billion. Hewlett-Packard also announced its plans to buy Autonomy Corp for $42.11 per share. HPQ shares dipped 9.83% to $26.61 in after-hours trading. Wall Street expects Ann Inc ANN to report its Q2 EPS at $0.45 on revenue of $550.22 million. ANN shares dropped 6.09% to close at $19.27 yesterday. Marvell Technology Group MRVL reported upbeat second-quarter results. Marvell reported its quarterly profit at $192 million, or $0.31 per share, down from $220 million, or $0.33 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-offs, Marvell's earnings came in at $0.38 per share. Its revenue rose to $898 million. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $0.37 per share on revenue of $889 million. Marvell shares jumped 10.69% to $13.25 in after-hours trading. Autodesk Inc ADSK reported a 19% rise in its second-quarter earnings. Autodesk's quarterly net earnings climbed to $71.2 million, or $0.30 per share, from $59.9 million, or $0.25 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Excluding certain items, Autodesk's adjusted earnings came in at $0.44 per share. Its revenue surged 16% y/y to $546.3 million, from $472.8 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.41 on revenue of $539.29 million. ADSK shares surged 4.49% to $27.70 in the after-hours trading session. Gap Inc GPS reported a 19% decline in its second-quarter profit. Gap's overall revenue at stores opened at least a year dropped 2% during the quarter. The company's quarterly earnings dropped to $189 million, or $0.35 per share, from $234 million, or $0.36 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue climbed 2% to $3.38 billion.
