Its revenue dropped 4.6% to $6.1 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.56 per share.
Colgate-Palmolive Co CL reported a 3.9% rise in its third-quarter net income. Colgate-Palmolive's quarterly profit surged to $643 million, or $1.31 per share, from $619 million, or $1.21 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue gained to $4.38 billion from $3.94 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $1.30 per share on revenue of $4.36 billion.
Goodrich Corp GR reported a rise in its third-quarter earnings. Goodrich's quarterly earnings climbed to $201.1 million, or $1.57 per share, from $160.2 million, or $1.25 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its sales gained 16% to $2 billion. Excluding merger costs, Goodrich earned $1.70 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $1.51 per share.
US Airways LCC reported a drop in its third-quarter profit. US Airways' quarterly profit declined to $76 million, or $0.41 per share, from $240 million, or $1.22 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its revenue gained 9% to $3.4 billion. Excluding special items, US Airways earned $0.51 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.48 per share on sales of $3.18 billion.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc HOT swung to a third-quarter profit on Thursday. Starwood Hotels lifted its full-year adjusted earnings forecast to $1.75 to $1.79 per share, from its earlier forecast of $1.67 to $1.77 per share. Starwood Hotels projects Q4 earnings of $0.53 to $0.57 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $0.55 per share. Starwood Hotels reported its quarterly profit at $163 million, or $0.85 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $6 million, or $0.03 per share. Excluding certain items, the company's earnings came in at $0.60 per share. Starwood Hotels in July estimates earnings of $0.36 to $0.40 per share. Its revenue climbed 9.3% to $1.37 billion, versus analysts' estimates of $1.36 billion.
Corn Products International Inc CPO reported a strong rise in its third-quarter earnings. Corn Products reported its quarterly profit at $87.7 million, or $1.12 per share, up from $36.9 million, or $0.48 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding certain items, the company's earnings came in at $1.20 per share. Its net sales surged 58% to $1.71 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.09 per share on revenue of $1.57 billion.
Elan Corp ELN swung to a Q3 profit from a year-ago loss. Elan reported its quarterly earnings at $674.1 million, or $1.13 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $47.8 million, or $0.08 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue rose to $323 million from $278.3 million.
Dow Chemical Co DOW reported a 59% surge in its third-quarter net income. Dow Chemical's quarterly profit climbed to $815 million, or $0.69 per share, from $512 million, or $0.45 per share, in the year-ago period. Its adjusted profit came in at $0.62 per share. Ball Corp BLL reported a 42% drop in its third-quarter profit. Ball reported its quarterly profit at $132.1 million, or $0.79 per share, down from $227.5 million, or $1.25 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding other items, the company's earnings came in at $0.81 per share. Ball's revenue climbed 11% to $2.26 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.78 per share on revenue of $2.23 billion.
Regis Corp RGS reported a 54% decline in its fiscal first-quarter earnings. Regis reported its quarterly profit at $8.3 million, or $0.15 per share, down from $18.3 million, or $0.30 per share, in the year-ago period. The company's operational earnings, excluding charges, came in at $0.26 per share. However, analysts were expecting expected earnings of $0.27 per share.

Eni SpA E reported a 2.7% rise in its third quarter net profit. Eni's quarterly net profit rose to EUR1.77 billion, from EUR1.72 billion, in the year-ago period. Eni's adjusted net profit gained 7% to EUR1.80 billion from EUR1.68 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of EUR1.51 billion.
Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan POT reported a strong rise in its third-quarter earnings. Potash Corp reported its quarterly earnings at $826 million, or $0.94 per share, up from $343 million, or $0.38 per share, in the year-ago period. The company earlier projected earnings of $0.80 to $1 per share. Its sales climbed to $2.32 billion from $1.58 billion, versus analysts' estimates of $2.17 billion.
Mack-Cali Realty Corp CLI reported a 56% rise in its third-quarter profit. Mack-Cali lifted its full-year earnings forecast to $0.77 to $0.81 per share, from its earlier forecast of $0.68 to $0.78 per share. Mack-Cali reported its quarterly profit at $21.2 million, or $0.24 per share, up from $13.5 million, or $0.16 per share, in the year-ago period. Mack-Cali's funds from operations gained to $0.73 from $0.69 per share. Its revenue fell 11% to $177.2 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.18 per share and FFO of $0.67 per share on revenue of $179 million.
Raytheon Co RTN reported a decline in its third-quarter earnings. Raytheon's quarterly earnings declined to $501 million, or $1.43 per share, from $728 million, or $1.94 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its sales dropped to $6.13 billion from $6.27 billion. On an adjusted basis, Raytheon earned $1.39 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.33 per share.
Procter & Gamble PG reported a 1.9% drop in its fiscal first-quarter net income. Procter & Gamble reported its quarterly earnings at $3.02 billion, down from $3.08 billion, in the year-ago period. Its earnings per share gained to $1.03 from $1.02. Its revenue rose to $21.92 billion, from $20.12 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.03 per share on revenue of $21.58 billion.
Cardinal Health Inc CAH reported a drop in its first quarter profit. Cardinal Health's quarterly profit declined to $236.8 million, or $0.68 per share, from $294.8 million, or $0.84 per share, in the year-ago period. Its earnings on an adjusted basis came in at $0.73 per share. Cardinal Health's revenue climbed 10% to $26.79 billion from $24.44 billion. Aetna's net per share surged to $1.30 from $1.19. The company's operating earnings rose to $1.40 per share, from $1 per share. Its revenue dropped to $7.83 billion from $7.89 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $1.15 per share on revenue of $8.28 billion.
Statoil ASA STO reported a rise in its third quarter output. Statoil reported its net profit at NOK10.41 billion ($1.91 billion) for the July-to-September period, versus NOK13.82 billion, in the year-ago period, compared to analysts' estimates of NOK12.31 billion. Its revenue rose to NOK166.44 billion, from NOK125.86 billion.
Exxon Mobil Corp XOM reported a 41% surge in its third-quarter profit. Exxon Mobil's quarterly profit climbed to $10.33 billion, or $2.13 per share, from $7.35 billion, or $1.44 per share, in the year-earlier period. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $2.12 per share. Its capital spending dropped 2% to $8.62 billion.
