US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street

US stock futures are lower this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 62 points to 12,805.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 8.20 points to 1,350.30. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 16.25 points to 2,606.50. US stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.59% to 12,932.09, the S&P 500 index declining 0.43% to 1,363.72 and the Nasdaq 100 index falling 0.39% to 2,946.27. Data on wholesale inventories will be released at 10 a.m.ET. Dean Foods Company DF is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.21 per share on sales of $3.13 billion. Cisco Systems Inc CSCO is projected to post its Q3 EPS at $0.47 on revenue of $11.57 billion. Macy's Inc M is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.40 per share on revenue of $6.15 billion. Kelly Services Inc KELYA is estimated to post its Q1 EPS at $0.18 on revenue of $1.38 billion. Spectrum Brands Holdings Inc SPB is estimated to post its Q2 EPS at $0.32 on revenue of $724.07 million. AOL Inc AOL is projected to post its Q1 earnings at $0.18 per share on revenue of $527.4 million. News Corp NWSA is expected to post its Q3 EPS at $0.31 on revenue of $8.24 billion. Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc HII is estimated to post its Q1 earnings at $0.70 per share on revenue of $1.65 billion. Tim Hortons Inc THI is estimated to post its Q1 EPS at $0.59 on revenue of $707.37 million. STEC Inc STEC reported a wider-than-expected quarterly loss and issued a downbeat forecast for the second quarter. The Walt Disney Company DIS reported upbeat profit for the fiscal second quarter. European markets were mostly lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index declined 0.55%, French CAC 40 index fell 0.58%. London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.30% and German DAX 30 index gained 0.11%. Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average declining 1.49%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 1.65% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.75% and India's Sensex dropped 0.38%. Nymex crude oil futures declined $0.75 to $96.26 a barrel in electronic trade. However, gold futures fell $21.20 to $1,583.30 an ounce. The ICE dollar index (DXY) gained to 79.973, versus 79.719 in late trading Tuesday. The euro declined against the US dollar to trade at $1.2975, versus $1.3014 Tuesday. The US dollar fell against the Japanese yen to trade at ¥79.64, from ¥79.81.
