US Stock Futures Point To Extended Gains

After moving up modestly on strong economic data from the UK and Germany, US stock futures held their gains post the release of impressive results by Honeywell HON and Ford F. While futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 30 points to 10297, those on the S&P 500 moved up 4 points to 1091.70. Meanwhile, Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 8 points to 1860.75. Investors are now awaiting the release of the European bank stress test results, that are due later in the day. Trading volume may be low due to stress results. The day has, however, started with positive news, as the German Ifo index posted a surprisingly large jump in July. Overseas, Asian markets ended higher, as Thursday’s rally on Wall Street boosted Chinese shares for a sixth consecutive session. Japanese stocks also saw a rebound that more than erased the losses suffered over the past week. Read more from Benzinga's Markets.
