• DISH Network DISH reported second quarter profits 4-cents better than expected at 57 cents per share, on revenues up 9.3% to $3.17 billion, slightly ahead of Zacks estimates of $3.12 billion

• Following CEO Mark Hurd's resignation, Hewlett-Packard HPQ issued improved preliminary fiscal third quarter sales and earnings projections of $30.7 billion and adjusted earnings of $1.08, up from Zacks estimates of $30.00 billion and $1.07 per share earnings. The company also raised its full-year guidance to $4.49-$4.51 from $4.45-$4.50. It sees sales of $125.3 billion to $125.5 billion for the year

• JP Morgan JPM cut Medtronic MDT from "overweight" to "neutral," with its price target lowered to $42 from $44

• JP Morgan JPM initiated coverage of Tesla Motors TSLA with an "overweight" rating and a $25 price target

• Apple's AAPL iPhone4 issues has resulted in the ousting of its senior VP for mobile devices, Mark Papermaster
