Dell Likely to Let HP Takeover 3Par (DELL, HPQ, PAR)

According to Reuters, Dell DELL is expected to bow out of the bidding war it and Hewlett-Packard Co. HPQ have been engaging in for data storage company 3Par Inc. PAR. Dell has until Wednesday to match or exceed HPQ’s recently released $2 billion bid. Given HPQ’s annual revenues, which are nearly triple that of Dell, it is much easier for the company to digest such a lofty price tag. "Clearly both companies really want 3PAR as part of their product mix, and they've both recognized the importance of storage in these cloud computing architectures. But I think it's hard to compete with HP. They've got the bigger balance sheet," said Peter Bell at venture capital firm Highland Capital Partners. For the entire article, please click here.
