US Stock Futures Up As Investors Await Midterm Elections

US stock futures moved up as the investors are awaiting the US midterm elections and another quantitative easing round from the Federal Reserve. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 39 points to 11,105.00 and S&P 500 futures rose 5.30 points to 1,185.00. Nasdaq 100 futures moved up 8.50 points at 2,130.50. US stock markets closed mixed on Friday, with the S&P 500 index losing 0.04%. The data on September consumer-spending is due at 8:30 a.m. ET. The Institute for Supply Management's October manufacturing index is scheduled for release at 10 a.m. ET. According to the Sunday Times (of London) newspaper, BHP Billiton BHP is likely to raise its bid of $39 billion for Potash Corp of Saskatchewan Inc POT by 10%. Anadarko Petroleum Corp APC is all set to report its Q3 earnings, after the closing bell today. A surprise rise in the twin-measures of manufacturing activity in China helped the Shanghai Composite index to rise about 2.5%. The UK's FTSE 100 index moved up about 0.02%.
