Live cattle futures are trading higher just after the open. Market chatter about Friday's USDA cattle on feed report and weather for consumer demand is making the rounds.
Friday's USDA cattle slaughter was 106,000 head versus 102,000 head a year ago. Saturday's cattle slaughter was 24,000 head. The total cattle slaughter for last week was 575,000 head versus 541,000 head a year ago.
