Global superstar Beyoncé is set to appear alongside Vice President Kamala Harris at a campaign rally in Houston, Texas, Friday night as the presidential candidate enters the final stretch ahead of the 2024 election.
What Happened: Reports of Beyoncé performing or appearing at the Democratic National Convention appeared to be unconfirmed and the singer did not make an appearance.
New reports, including one from Variety, link the singer to appearing at Harris' campaign event at the Shell Energy Stadium. Reports also say Beyoncé could be taking the stage to perform, prompting strong demand for free tickets to the event.
Beyoncé has not publicly endorsed Harris, but has allowed the presidential candidate to use her music at events with Harris making "Freedom" her official campaign anthem. Reports also previously linked the singer to making a large donation to the vice president.
Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles and singer Willie Nelson are also expected to be in attendance during the Texas event. Senate candidate Colin Allred will also be featured at the event as he attempts to win the state's U.S. Senate seat held by longtime member of Congress, Ted Cruz.

Why It's Important: Beyoncé appearing and singing at the event would likely add to the recent fanfare of singers appearing onstage to endorse Harris, including a surprise appearance by Eminem at a Michigan campaign event alongside former President Barack Obama.
Houston is Beyoncé's hometown, which is likely one of the big reasons why she would choose this campaign event to appear and further show her support for Harris.
The vice president is expected to use the event to highlight abortion rights, which has become one of the biggest 2024 election topics. Texas is one of the strictest states on abortion across the nation.
With less than two weeks to go until the election, some have questioned why Harris would be spending time in Texas, which is expected to be won by Donald Trump. The highlighting of abortion rights and chance to further push Allred in the national spotlight are likely the big reasons why.
Texas has voted for a Republican presidential candidate in the past 11 straight presidential elections, with the last Democrat to win the state being Jimmy Carter in the 1976 election.
Trump won the state in the 2020 election with 52.1% of the vote. Trump's 52.1% and a 6.5% margin over Joe Biden were both the smallest for the state since the 1996 election.
The last election showed Texas could be closer than in past years, which makes Harris' appearance in the state an area to watch.
