Arnold Schwarzenegger Endorses Kamala Harris: 'I Will Always Be An American Before I Am A Republican'

Zinger Key Points
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger, a longtime Republican, announces he is voting for Kamala Harris over Donald Trump
  • Trump's divisive rhetoric and refusal to admit defeat in 2020 are among the reasons to vote for Harris, according to Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was the Republican Governor of California, endorsed Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump in a post on social media platform X on Wednesday.

Schwarzenegger, who used his bodybuilding fame to launch a prolific career in Hollywood and then politics, has been a long-time Republican, but is an "American before I am a Republican," he said in the post.

Schwarzenegger explained that while he isn't thrilled with the current state of politics, he recognizes the importance of policy.

While in office as the governor, Schwarzenegger learned how to work with the other side in order to pass productive legislation, he said in the post. Schwarzenegger also appears to be uncertain of Trump's ability to work with the other side to pass legislation that will help Americans.

"That's policy. It requires working with the other side, not insulting them to win your next election, and I know it isn't sexy to most people, but I love it when I can help make people's lives better with policies," he wrote in the X post.

Trump's consistent denials of the 2020 election results are as "un-American as it gets," according to “The Terminator” star. Trump, if elected, will continue to drive Americans apart and America will get nothing but “more anger,” Schwarzenegger said.

Celebrities and well-known businesspeople such as Bill Gates, Eminem, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and more have recently endorsed Harris’ bid for the White House. Meanwhile, Trump garnered support from Elon Musk, Kid Rock, San Francisco 49ers' Nick Bosa, among others.
