Will Kamala Harris Appear On Saturday Night Live Before 2024 Election? Polymarket Prediction Market Says...

Zinger Key Points
  • Saturday Night Live turns 50 with its upcoming season.
  • The hit comedy show has featured multiple presidents and political figures in cameos throughout its history.

"Saturday Night Live" kicks off its 50th anniversary season on Sept. 28. While the host and musical guest have not been announced, crypto bettors are placing wagers on whether Vice President Kamala Harris will make an appearance during one of the show’s skits involving the 2024 presidential election.

What Happened: Prediction market Polymarket lists the odds of Harris coming on "Saturday Night Live" before the 2024 election at 51%. The odds hit 97% back on Aug. 5 and were trading over 70% earlier this month.

On Polymarket, users can deposit funds using USDC USDC/USD via the Polygon MATIC/USD network, or directly from a crypto account with Ethereum ETH/USD. In each betting market, the winning option pays out at $1.

Whether or not Harris appears on future SNL episodes, it has already been announced that former cast member Maya Rudolph is set to return for season 50 to portray Harris.

Rudolph, a cast member from 2000 to 2007, has been back on the show for this portrayal multiple times and won an Emmy Award in 2020 for her role as Harris.

It was also reported that actor and frequent SNL host Steve Martin turned down the opportunity to portray Harris' running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Did You Know?

Why It's Important: Neither Harris, nor SNL, will likely confirm an upcoming appearance. But the current vice president would be far from the first cameo.

Political figures are often featured in skits alongside the people who portray them. On Nov. 8, 2015, then-candidate Donald Trump hosted an episode and appeared alongside Taran Killam and Darrell Hammond for his opening monologue.

See below.

Trump also hosted an episode in 2004. His relationship with the comedy hit soured in recent years with the former president criticizing how actor Alec Baldwin portrayed him.

"Saturday Night Live" also parodied Trump's NFTs and sneaker launches as cash grabs.

Among the other presidents who appeared on SNL include Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush and Barack Obama. Other political figures to appear on the show include Bob Dole, Al Gore, Ralph Nader, John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin.

A Harris appearance on SNL could boost the candidate’s exposure ahead of Election Day. Bill Clinton‘s appearance on "The Arsenio Hall Show" in 1992, for example, served as a key moment that helped the then-Governor of Arkansas win over young voters ahead of his presidential election win.

SNL airs on NBC, a unit of Comcast Corporation CMCSA.
